The story
Green Day came out of the Gilman Street punk scene in Berkeley and were accused of selling out roughly the moment Dookie shipped ten million copies in 1994. A decade later American Idiot — a punk rock opera that became a Broadway musical — turned them into a political band with arenas to fill. Still touring stadiums three decades in, they released Saviors in 2024.
