The story

Olivia Rodrigo released 'drivers license' in January 2021 at seventeen and broke Spotify's single-day streaming record inside a week. Working with producer Dan Nigro, she built SOUR and GUTS on distorted guitars and live drums at a moment when mainstream pop had largely abandoned both, and she has credited her influences — Alanis Morissette, Paramore, Rilo Kiley — in the songwriting splits. She won Best New Artist at nineteen.
