Living in a third-floor walkup meant an acoustic kit was never going to happen. The TD-17's mesh heads feel close enough to real skins that switching back and forth between this and my bandmate's acoustic kit at rehearsal isn't jarring anymore. The onboard coach mode also quietly made me a better drummer over about six months.
